Alabama disappeared for almost a decade. USC was an 8-4 program for 20 years before Pete Carroll got there.They've also been getting a lot of mileage for the past 10+ years off of some success that was largely due to Vince Young. They're sort of the guy who was a star in his small town fifteen years ago, and still rides that success for free dinners. They've got a lot of talent there, but you'd think that top recruiting from one of the biggest football states in the nation would lead to better success.
