I think the dystopian future setting from the video made this one of my favorites as a kid. Mad Max was pretty big at the time.

In the random people category... I love how people react to seeing PAUL f'in McCARTNEY riding the tube in this video. The album is generally panned but I do very much like this single from the album Press to Play.
I've listened to that song so many times and somehow never noticed these lyrics before
One thing I always associated with MTV was Beavis and Butthead and how they would just drop random music videos into the middle of an episode
As an elementary school kid when MTV blew up the Peter Gabriel videos were what I liked most. Also the Genesis land of confusion video with the puppets (I was a really weird kid already into politics and world leaders whenever it was presented to me).

Yeah they jump started the idea of music video with these and their movies. They just didn't have the media outlets yet. The Who was there too.
Roxette, Ace of Base, and Savage Garden are others that comes to mind around the MTV era too
I'm a sucker for music videos that don't really have anything to do with the song but are visually stunning and tell their own story. I.e. this Twin Peaks music video for "Dance Through It". Not my favorite song of theirs by any means but loved what they did for this video.
One of my favorite Talking Heads songs. Definitely not one of their better known. And with all the Realignment mess again - it fits for the all-is-lost dystopian ISU future emotional pendulum swing.
