    Breweries to survive coronavirus?

I will add that I never understand when a new business....especially one that can benefit from foot traffic of nearby other established entities, doesn't invest and install decent signage. Relying on "1717 Brewery" on modest sized window lettering just on your door seems like you're not...

    Breweries to survive coronavirus?

Mistress makes sense. No one seems to love their beer and as pointed out, they are probably in high rent spot. Why 1717?

    2020 Stocks

Agreed. Yeah….staying in the market but also at the same time buying more when it dips is hardly what most experts warn about when they caution against trying to “time the market”. I haven’t read the entire thread. Are people really suggesting otherwise???

    2020 Stocks

Yes….as a normal practice but down markets are a unique time that might suggest you may want to be more aggressive in your investing than your usual dollar cost average routine.

Full Court (Im)Press: Restaurant Group Crushing It in Tough Times

Only speaking from what I've heard Bruno say in the past, they are really not fans of suburbia. They aren't motivated by easy money so they have to be passionate about the location. They feel like they are making a difference in an urban area. Hard to have that same feeling leasing an open spot...

Full Court (Im)Press: Restaurant Group Crushing It in Tough Times

Thanks for your rundown on FCP. That was very interesting. That said, this revelation is jaw dropping to me. I do like craft beers, but I"m also not a beer snob and will drink BL IF there are no other choices. It blows my mind that people would be so conservative and unadventurous that...

Full Court (Im)Press: Restaurant Group Crushing It in Tough Times

on a tangent - one group not "crushing it" is Granite City Brewery. It appears their Clive location is now closed. (a bit odd as Famous Dave's just bought this small chain). Used to be quite the hopping spot not that many yrs back.

    2019 Taxes

But that isn't an issue any of us are going to solve before April 15th, so the issue really is -- what method makes the most sense for a person to get their taxes prepared given we have the complicated tax code we have today? I think it is pretty clear, there is no one right answer for all...

    2019 Taxes

Yep....I saw this too firsthand when I worked in the industry for a few years. Everything is complicated with taxes. You need to pay us to handle,. Tax software is too simplistic. You need to pay us to handle. We will get you the maximum refund possible. You need to pay us to handle...

    2019 Taxes

There is a lot of "justifying my job" in this commentary. Have you actually ever used consumer directed tax prep software? (I find a lot in the industry, never have). It doesn't sound like it based on your comments here. There is nothing to "figure out". The software asks questions and the...

    2019 Taxes

It is not that hard for the MAJORITY of taxpayers which would include a bulk of the individuals complaining about the time it takes to get their refund ck. Most TPs can avoid that, with just a little proactive effort. Period. Certain tax preparers and CPAs are always going to be bias...

    2019 Taxes

Again...I used to be a tax preparer....in central Iowa (Des Moines) , so no, I wouldn't be shocked. I saw if firsthand. That said, my experience tends to confirm my suspicion that my clients getting the EIC, were not likely CF forum folks.....which is the audience here (obviously) . Not the...

    2019 Taxes

It really isn't that difficult...unless maybe you are a contract worker or a small business owner....or maybe a day trader . That is not the majority of people on this thread. This isn't rocket science.

    2019 Taxes

I will grant your professional credentials trump mine specifically towards taxation knowledge as I am not a CPA. That said, I have done tax prep professionally in the past as a side job. Also, I’ve been working in the financial services industry for 26 + yrs.….mainly on the compliance/tax...

Dow down 3,000 points in the last week

If retiring in less than a year, you'd assume the person was already conservatively allocated in the market with a heavier emphasis on more conservative investments.
